RCPROJECT 38
Being one of, if not, the tinniest apartment that we have ever remodelled, RCPROJECT38 has been a stimulating and rewarding journey down the path of refreshed thought processes and rediscovery driven by the challenges that the unit posted.
The small nest recides in one of the oldest and smallest public housing in Singapore, with stories and memories of its own nestled within the structure like a time capsule. Taking care to preserve as much of its heritage as possible, we desired to retain certain parts of the house, like the very pillar rendering support to the entire structure, as a reminder of its old charm.
With that thought in mind, strategic schematic re-layout and interior design was injected to artfully utilize the compact spaces, while creating the illusion of a bigger floorplan.
Rooms configuration has been reshuffled. Walls were replaced with sliding wood bleach panels for versatility. Walls, ceilings, floorings and even fixtures were coated in unison tone to blur the lines that define spaces, but kept intriguing in different texture treatments.
To design is to provide intuitive and functional solutions in aesthetical ways. And this is exactly what we have done for Project 38.
